Traffic system standing by for Tropical Storm Sally traffic
Tropical Storm Sally is expected to make landfall in southeast Louisiana and Mississippi late Monday / early Tuesday, possibly as a Category 2 Hurricane. While not at the same level of severity as Hurricane Laura, there is potential for storm surge and damage as Sally makes landfall, and by extension, the potential for emergency, priority, or welfare traffic from affected areas.
Accordingly, I have upgraded the traffic system status for our Section to STANDBY. Net managers and Official Relay Stations in the North Texas Section are actively monitoring the progression of this storm. While there are no plans to stand up extended net sessions or take any other storm-related actions at this time, we will remain agile and ready to make additional resources available as needed.
Those interested in staying up to date on Sally are encouraged to monitor the NTS Status dashboard at https://www.k8amh.com/nts-status/ to review current radar, satellite, and wind imagery, as well as review the latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center, warnings for Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida from the National Weather Service, and other storm-related information.
